Occupants of a car should avoid quarreling at all costs. When drivers unconsciously become more aggressive, the risk of accident increase. A crisis situation arising in a car can rapidly deteriorate, especially since the confines of the car leave no retreat. Therefore, it is recommended that car occupants avoid touchy subjects that can lead to arguments. The driver as well should avoid becoming too angry, due to other reckless drivers. All those in the car do well to consider themselves as a team with common goal. Before starting off, it should be established how the front passenger can help with navigating, tuning the radio, or handling difficult situations.

DRY BONES

Amaka school lessons were always in the early evening, and she could easily walk home while there was still light in the sky. But one evening, her elderly teacher had fallen way behind with his students.

When Amaka finally finished her lesson, she could see that the sky was already turning a darker blue as the sun began to set. Amaka packed up her books into her bag and said goodbye to her teacher. She knew that she should call her parents and ask them to pick her up. But she had been waiting in the teacher’s house for so long. She just wanted to escape into fresh air.

Amaka hurried up out of the door before the teacher could tell her to call her parents. It was a warm evening, and Amaka felt as free as the birds winging across the sky. She started off for home, humming the poem she read from one of her textbooks.

It happened almost without Amaka noticing. The pale light in the sky faded to a deeper and deeper blue. The green trees along the street darkened until they became black shadows. Suddenly, Amaka found herself walking alone through the night. She realized that she was still a long way from home. And she still had to pass by the cemetery.
